Ian Habgood has been active in the music
production business since early 2000.
After graduating in 1996 from Newcastle college in UK
with a 1st class pass in Jazz, Popular and Commercial
music Ian moved to London where he began composing cinematic
music for some of Europe's biggest themed attractions
whilst continuing to perform on trumpet in local bands.
His work caught the attention of film composers Steven
Parsons and Francis Haines who introduced him to various
Film and TV directors. Before long Ian was programming
and recording his own music for the ITV shows "Fat
Friends" and "Star Street".
Through his TV work Ian became familiar with a small
handful of TV advertising producers and soon after began
composing music for TV commercials. To this day Ian has
produced music for over 50 TV commercials, including international
brands Pepsi, Toyota, McDonalds, Buik, VW etc.
In 2002 Ian commenced work on the Film "The
Piano Player", starring Dennis Hopper, which
later lead him to composing music for other films including
"Charlie", starring Luke Goss and "Nine
Dead Gay Guys" starring Stephen Berkoff
and "Arthurs Dyke", starring
Pauline Quirk.
Ian has since signed deals with partners Boosey
and Hawkes and Felt Music who
continue to exploit his work. Subsequently his music has
appeared in many TV shows and films with his commercial
tracks being featured on Ministry of Sound compilations
alongside artists such as Bjork and Royksop.
Ian's sound is organic and often combines live acoustic
performances with skilful music programming resulting
in music that does not sound synthetic. He is proficient
at producing heavyweight film scores, enchanted orchestral
themes, contemporary indie film music cues and quirky
Jazz themes.
