Introduction
From pounding epic orchestral scores with contemporary percussion to delicate minimalist styled sound beds, quirky uplifting jazz themes to menacing breakbeats, my portfolio of work is extremely varied, presenting a mixture of musical genres and different techniques associated with scoring music for picture. Increasingly technology has had the effect of dispersing the geographical concentration of composers and sound producers that existed in London, New York, LA etc, now composers like myself work in towns and cities all across the globe, working with a new generation of internet-savvy directors and producers who are more comfortable working with artists via the internet. With over 10 years experience in producing music and sound for various industries covering TV advertising, Film & Television, Multimedia Entertainment and Themed Attractions, I'm fortunate enough to have worked with producers in many major cities including London, Dublin, Moscow, Shanghai, New Delhi, Sydney, Jakarta, Singapore and Hanoi. Whether composing for a 30 second commercial or completing a full score for a feature film, I work in tandem with my clients, ensuring that my music helps the development of the picture by evoking emotions in the audience, explaining the feelings of the characters and pointing out what is important in the picture.

History
After graduating in 1996 from Newcastle University in the UK with a 1st class pass in Jazz, Popular and Commercial music, I moved to London where I began composing cinematic music for some of Europe's biggest themed attractions whilst continuing to perform on trumpet in local bands. My work caught the attention of film composers Steven Parsons and Francis Haines who hired me as an assistant composer, introducing me to a handful of Film and TV directors in London. Before long my TV composing career was born, scoring music for ITV shows "Fat Friends" and "Star Street", and BBC drama shows Green Eyed Monster and Life for Daniel.
In 2004 I began work on the Film "The Piano Player", starring Dennis Hopper, which later lead to composing music for other films including "Charlie", starring Luke Goss and "Nine Dead Gay Guys" starring Stephen Berkoff and "Arthur's Dyke", starring Pauline Quirk. In 2006 I moved to Malaysia to work as a senior music producer for 2 years at Imaginex Studios in Kuala Lumpur. Primarily I was responsible for composing, programming, recording and mixing TV commercial music for international advertising agencies including BBDO, Leo Burnett, TBWA, Saatchi & Saatchi etc. During my period at Imaginex I also produced music for several films and TV documentaries including Pua, which won best short film documentary at the 50th Asia Pacific Film Festival. In 2006 I left Imaginex studios to compose music for 104 episodes of TV animation for Studio Bizzaro and Vision New Media. I also worked as a freelance composer for 2am studios Malaysia and Stellar Sound in Sydney, producing music for movies, TV shows and TV commercials in Asia and Europe.

Technology
Nowadays it is imperative for film & TV composers to be experts in the area of technology, utilising the latest digital tools to efficiently produce music that will become one with the picture. Having both a musical performance and technological background allows me to independently compose and produce organic and emotive music for directors, adding the necessary polished layer to effect the true emotion of the picture.
Having worked as an in-house composer at a number of music & sound studios, I am proficient and experienced at programming, mixing and editing with a variety of different software programs and virtual instruments including Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Spectrasonics, Kontakt, NI, etc.
I prefer to use real instrumentation and enjoy working with and recording other musicians but the reality is that lower budget projects often don't allow me to bring in many performers. Therefore I typically employ a technique that doubles manufactured or virtual sounds with authentic performances played by myself or other musicians. For example, by blending virtual orchestral sounds with several live solo performances I can add real depth and emotion to the music, ultimately supporting what is happening on screen.
